Media Unit and Wooden Wall Panel
Project Overview
Our client approached us with a unique challenge: to create a bespoke media unit that would complement a sideboard they had ordered but had not yet received. The project required careful planning and design to ensure the media unit matched the features and style of the anticipated sideboard. We did toy with the idea of a complete Media wall unit but a low line media unit and wooden slatted wall panel worked better.
Design and Planning
As an experienced bespoke furniture maker, we embarked on designing a media unit that would seamlessly fit into the client’s living space. The media unit was designed to be three metres in length, low-line, and fit perfectly under the existing wall-mounted TV.
Key considerations included:
- Internal Features: The media unit was equipped with adjustable shelves and doors featuring soft-close concealed hinges, ensuring functionality and aesthetically pleasing.
- Power Supply: We designed the back of the unit with a recessed section to accommodate the wall sockets and electrical power supply, ensuring a clean look.
- Aesthetic Details: To enhance the visual appeal, we included wood slat wall panels and a shelf, tying the furniture together harmoniously.
Execution
The execution phase focused on attention to detail:
- Colour Matching: We colour-matched the furniture with an oak stain and finished it with lacquer, achieving a perfect match with the client’s existing décor.
- Support and Stability: Black metal legs were fitted to support the cabinet, providing both stability and a contemporary furniture look.
- Handleless Design: The doors were surface-mounted on the front of the cabinet, eliminating the need for handles and maintaining a sleek, modern appearance.
- Integration: The wall panels were meticulously fitted around the existing wall light and double socket, ensuring seamless integration with the room’s existing features.
Result
The completed media wall unit complemented the client’s sideboard beautifully. The bespoke design service worked well, combined with practical features and aesthetic details, resulted in a stunning addition to their home.

To ensure the longevity and pristine condition of the media unit, we provided the client with simple maintenance tips. Regular dusting and occasional cleaning with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth will keep the unit looking new for years to come.
