The client living in a very impressive Georgian house in Edgbaston required a built in wardrobe to be designed and made to fit into an alcove. The house was a lovely big old house with very tall ceilings and plenty of original features. We had to design a period two door robe to compliment its surroundings. It had a heavy cornice moulding, raised panels and other detail which was in keeping with the property.
The robe was fitted out with hanging rails and adjustable shelves. It was approx. eight foot high not the full height of the ceiling as this would be to over powering and not at all practical to use. Finished with spray paint.
A few months ago we had a phone call from the same customer and they wanted some more furniture. They were so happy with the workmanship, quality, attention to detail and the fact that we do bespoke, purpose made furniture to suit the individual. This time we had to make two fitted cabinets for the drawing room fitted either side of the chimney breast.
The cabinets were painted a light colour with moulded element, fluted columns and fine detail. On the left was a base cabinet with two doors and adjustable shelves with access to an electric socket for a lamp. On the right was also a base cabinet with two doors and adjustable shelves, and above was a cabinet with two doors and adjustable shelves, making the overall height eight foot.
In addition to this work we were also asked to make a bespoke twin pedestal desk in mahogany to compliment a set of dining table and chairs. The desk had two pedestals either end with cupboards, raised panel doors and adjustable shelving. There was also a bow front over the knee hole space and a separate plinth to place the computer processor on. It was stained and lacquered to match the other furniture.
It is so rewarding to do work for customers who appreciate the skill, the craftsmanship, the quality of our one of pieces of furniture.
