A Brief Story on What the Client Asked For
A client came to us for two new and updated bookcases and was after an alternative look compared to their old pine units. The two bespoke bookcases were to be positioned either side of a wall-hung painting, with space on the shelves to house books and display items.
Specific Requirements
The client loved the contemporary “zig-zag” design and open shelves but also wanted some extra storage space. The custom design featured large storage at the base with two small handle-free doors, complementing the contemporary design even further.
The zig-zag feature of the two bookcases had one closed off end on each shelf, offering a unique design perfectly fitted without being obtrusive.
High-Quality Materials and Paint Finish
We crafted the two zig-zag bookcases using mainly Hidrofugo MDF manufacturer boards for furniture making, which are moisture resistant and benefit from less preparation time for finishing. For the paint, the client requested the colour black to pair with their pink walls and abstract art, and we use a bespoke water-based spray paint, created specifically for us, to suite the clients requirements which left the bookcases with a pristine, premium finish.
Result
The client was left blown away by our work on their two new bookcases featuring a modern zig-zag design. The black paint finish helps the units stand out, with the four levels of shelves providing ample room for housing books and ornaments. The extra storage space at the base of the cases helped the client with decluttering and extra space, with the handle-free doors providing a seamless aesthetic.
Aftercare
The premium materials and finish we used for these bookcases require minimal aftercare. All the client has to do is clean with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth, helping to maintain the attractive finish and keep the shelves dust dree.
